Ottawa set to face AFC Toronto in the two-leg semifinal beginning next weekend

Montréal, QC (October 23, 2026) – Ottawa wrapped its 2026 regular season campaign on Friday evening with a 1-0 loss to Montreal Roses FC at Stade Boréale. Rapid FC (12-4-9) finishes the regular season with 40 points and will now face AFC Toronto in a home-and-away semifinal beginning next weekend.

Both sides came out aggressive on Friday, with back-and-forth action through the first 45. Nearing half time, Montréal appeared to get on the board, but the goal was called back on an offside. Ottawa remained strong defensively through the majority of the second half, neutralizing a number of dangerous attacks from Roses FC. Montréal finally broke through in the final ten minutes off the foot of Tanya Boychuk, handing Ottawa the loss.

“What I said to the players now, today we lost to a better team,” said head coach Katrine Pedersen. “We defended very well, and that kept us in the game. … We did have chances. They had a goal disallowed, we had a big chance in the first half, so what could have happened if we had scored on that. Altogether, today I am not fully satisfied, but I think we’ve formed well as a team. So a team effort without us being at our best in possession.”

Next weekend, Ottawa kicks off its playoff campaign with the first match of a two-leg semifinal against AFC Toronto. Kickoff times will be announced pending the results of this weekend’s remaining slate of games.

D.B. PRIDHAM: D.B. Pridham finishes the year with ten goals and five assists. The 2025 Golden Boot winner currently sits tied for third in goalscoring league-wide.

KEERA MELENHORST: Keera Melenhorst wraps her rookie campaign with six goals and a league-leading seven assists.

MELISSA DAGENAIS: Goalkeeper Melissa Dagenais made three saves on Friday to add to her league-leading total of 74 saves made on the season.

IRON WOMAN: Jyllissa Harris finishes the season having played every minute of every game for Rapid FC, totalling 2250 minutes. Harris also leads the league in total passes (1725) and touches (2134).

49 GOALS: Rapid FC’s 49 goals scored on the year sets a new record for most by a club in a single NSL season.

40 POINTS: Ottawa finishes the year with 40 points, topping last season’s 39-point tally.

SERIES: Rapid FC finishes the year with a 1-1-3 record against Roses FC.
