Defender Elise Bell scored her first goal in her first NSL appearance
Ottawa, ON (August 22, 2026) – Ottawa Rapid FC fell 5-1 to Vancouver Rise FC on Saturday evening at TD Place Stadium. Rapid FC (10-3-4) remain atop the Northern Super League table with 33 points.
Ottawa came up with a number of dangerous attacks in the first half, but ultimately could not capitalize. Vancouver opened the scoring with a goal in first-half stoppage time from Alex Lamontagne, who then doubled the club’s lead to open the second half. Minutes later, Anna Bout added to Vancouver’s lead, then Camila Reyes converted a penalty for Rise FC. Later, Maithé López put the game away with a fifth for Rise FC. In the 81st minute, Ottawa’s Elise Bell put a head on a corner kick delivered by Melanie Forbes for her first NSL goal in her first appearance. Forbes was credited with her first assist of the season on the goal.
“We thought we played an okay first half, we had periods where we had momentum,” said head coach Katrine Pedersen. “And then obviously letting five goals in within 20 minutes, we are not happy about that. We need to look at each other and have a better mindset. I think what I was happy about was at the end, we picked it up, we scored a goal. We stayed together, we stayed connected. In that way, that shows some mentality.”
Elise Bell, on scoring in her NSL debut: “Obviously my pro debut, it’s crazy. Even just thinking about it, a week ago, I had no idea I was going to be in Ottawa this week. I was preparing to go into my fourth year at Guelph. So this whole week has been crazy, and obviously coming into my pro debut and getting to score, it’s just an unreal feeling. I keep having to pinch myself that I’m here.”
Next weekend, Rapid FC face AFC Toronto at BMO Field. Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday, August 30th at 4:00 p.m. ET.

Ottawa (Ontario) 22 août 2026 – Le CF Rapide d’Ottawa s’est incliné 5-1 contre le Rise FC de Vancouver samedi soir, au Stade de la Place TD. Le CF Rapide (10-3-4) demeure en tête du classement de la Super Ligue du Nord avec un total de 33 points.
Ottawa a obtenu un bon nombre d’occasions dangereuses en première demie, mais n’a pas réussi à en tirer profit. Vancouver a ouvert la marque dans les arrêts de jeu avant la mi-temps grâce à Alex Lamontagne, qui a ensuite doublé l’avance de son club au début de la deuxième demie. Quelques minutes plus tard, Anna Bout a accru l’avance du Rise FC, puis Camila Reyes a marqué sur penalty pour les visiteuses. Maithé López a ensuite ajouté un cinquième but de Vancouver. À la 81e minute de jeu, Elise Bell a inscrit Ottawa au tableau en redirigeant de la tête un coup de pied de coin envoyé par Melanie Forbes, pour ainsi inscrire son premier but dans la SLN à sa première sortie dans la ligue. Forbes a enregistré sa première passe décisive de l’année sur ce filet.
« Nous trouvons que nous avons joué de façon correcte en première demie, il y a eu des séquences où nous avions du rythme, a déclaré l’entraîneure-chef Katrine Pedersen. Ensuite, évidemment, accorder cinq buts en l’espace de 20 minutes, il n’y avait pas lieu d’être contentes. Nous devons nous regarder dans le miroir et avoir une meilleure mentalité. Ce que j’ai aimé c’est qu’à la fin, nous avons pressé le pas, nous avons marqué un but. Nous sommes restées unies, nous sommes restées liées. Ça montre que l’attitude était la bonne à cet égard ».
Elise Bell, au sujet de son but à ses débuts dans la SLN : « Évidemment, c’était mon premier match dans les rangs professionnels, alors c’est fou. Quand j’y pense, il y a une semaine, je n’avais aucune idée que j’allais me retrouver avec Ottawa. Je me préparais en prévision de ma quatrième saison à Guelph. Ce qui fait que ç’a été une semaine folle, et évidemment le fait de faire mes débuts dans les rangs professionnels et de marquer, c’est irréel comme sensation. Je dois continuellement me pincer pour réaliser que je suis ici ».
Le weekend prochain, le CF Rapide affrontera l’AFC Toronto au BMO Field. Le match aura lieu le dimanche 30 août à compter de 16 h 00 (HE).
