Nicola Golen scored in second-half stoppage time to help Ottawa to a tenth-straight match without a loss
Ottawa, ON (August 9, 2026) – Rapid FC extended its record-breaking unbeaten streak to ten matches on Sunday afternoon, drawing 2-2 with AFC Toronto at TD Place. Earning a point, Rapid FC (10-3-2) continue to hold onto first place in the Northern Super League table with 33 points.
Rapid FC struck first on Sunday when Kayla Adamek intercepted a clearing attempt from Toronto and crossed it into the box where Forbes was able to come up with the clean finish for her third of the year. Adamek was credited with her second assist this season. Later in the first half, Toronto equalized with a goal from Sarah Stratigakis.
Ottawa came out strong in the second half, pushing hard to retake the lead. The match saw a momentum shift when Ottawa’s Choo Hyojoo and Toronto’s Cloey Uddenberg were both sent off in the 62nd minute. Toronto was later given a penalty when Kayla Adamek took Colby Barnett down in the box, and Shelina Zadorsky converted the kick to give Toronto the lead.
In stoppage time, Ottawa was awarded a free kick outside Toronto’s penalty box. On the ensuing set piece, Johanne Fridlund crossed it into the box where Nicola Golen headed it in to level the score. The goal marked Golen’s second of the year and Fridlund’s third assist.
Head coach Katrine Pedersen on the result: “I think we played a very good first half. We were in control, we created key chances. We were actually quite happy, we just wanted to go out and control the second half as well. We let that (control) go a little bit, we gave them more initiative. And then a lot of things happened in the second half. Two red cards, a penalty. But the mentality of this group, I can repeat myself from last match, I’m proud of what we bring when we look like we’re down. We don’t give up. We might be down, but we’re never out.”
Next, Rapid FC head west to face Calgary Wild FC at McMahon Stadium on Saturday, August 15th at 4 p.m. ET.
NICOLA GOLEN: Nicola Golen scored her second goal of the NSL season on Sunday. The 22-year-old also scored in extra time of last week’s W Canadian Championship match against Halifax Tides FC to power Ottawa to the competition’s semi-finals.
MELANIE FORBES: Melanie Forbes scored her third goal of the season on Sunday, topping her 2025 regular season total of two.
STREAK: Rapid FC is unbeaten in ten-straight matches, the longest-ever unbeaten streak in the Northern Super League.
TD PLACE: At half-time on Sunday, the league announced that this year’s Northern Super League Final will be held at TD Place in Ottawa on November 14, 2026 at 3 p.m. ET.
SERIES: Rapid FC have a 1-2-0 record this season against Toronto.

Le CF Rapide prolonge sa série d’invincibilité à 10 rencontres grâce à une nulle de 2-2 contre AFC Toronto

Ottawa, ON (9 août 2026) – Le CF Rapide a prolongé sa série record de matchs sans défaite à 10, dimanche après-midi, en soutirant un match nul de 2-2 au AFC Toronto au Stade de la Place TD. En récoltant ainsi un point, Ottawa (10-3-2) continue d’occuper la première place au classement de la Super Ligue du Nord avec 33 points.
C’est le CF Rapide qui a frappé d’abord quand Kayla Adamek a intercepté une tentative de dégagement de Toronto et a centré le ballon dans la zone de réparation, où Melanie Forbes a pu compléter la manœuvre sans équivoque et ainsi inscrire son troisième filet de la saison. Adamek a alors récolté sa deuxième passe décisive de l’année. Plus tard en première mi-temps, la formation torontoise a créé l’égalité sur un but de Sarah Stratigakis.
Ottawa est sorti en force en deuxième mi-temps, appliquant beaucoup de pression dans l’espoir de reprendre les devants. Le match a changé d’allure quand Choo Hyojoo, d’Ottawa, et Cloey Uddenberg, de Toronto, ont toutes deux été expulsées à la 62e minute de jeu. L’équipe torontoise a ensuite eu droit à un penalty quand Kayla Adamek a accroché Colby Barnett dans la surface de réparation, puis Shelina Zadorsky l’a converti pour procurer aux visiteuses une priorité de 2-1.
Dans les arrêts de jeu, Ottawa a obtenu un coup franc à l’extérieur de la zone de réparation torontoise. Johanne Fridlund a centré le ballon dans les 16 mètres, où Nicola Golen a créé l’égalité d’une reprise de tête. Golen en était alors à son deuxième but de l’année, tandis que Fridlund enregistrait sa troisième passe décisive.
L’entraîneure-chef Katrine Pedersen sur le résultat du match : « Je trouve que nous avons disputé une très bonne première demie. Nous avons eu le contrôle du jeu, nous avons créé des occasions clés. Nous étions plutôt satisfaites, il s’agissait alors de continuer à contrôler le ballon en deuxième demie aussi. Toutefois, nous nous sommes relâchées un peu, nous leur avons laissé un peu plus l’initiative du jeu. Pas mal de choses se sont passées en deuxième demie. Deux cartons rouges, un penalty. Cependant avec la mentalité de ce groupe, je pourrais répéter les mêmes choses que j’ai dites le match d’avant, je suis fière de la façon dont nous réagissons quand nous tirons de l’arrière. Nous ne baissons pas les bras. Nous tirons peut-être de l’arrière, mais ce n’est jamais fini pour nous ».
À son prochain match, le CF Rapide se dirigera dans l’Ouest canadien pour affronter le Wild FC de Calgary au stade McMahon, le samedi 15 août à 16 h (HE).
NICOLA GOLEN : Nicola Golen a marqué son deuxième but de la saison de la SLN, dimanche. L’athlète de 22 ans a par ailleurs marqué en prolongation du match du Championnat canadien féminin disputé la semaine dernière contre les Tides de Halifax FC, ce qui a permis à Ottawa de se qualifier pour les demi-finales de cette compétition.
MELANIE FORBES : Melanie Forbes a inscrit son troisième filet de la saison, dimanche, pour ainsi améliorer le total de deux buts qu’elle avait affiché au cours de la saison régulière 2025.
LA SÉQUENCE : Le CF Rapide est invaincu depuis 10 matchs. Il s’agit de la plus longue séquence de rencontres sans défaite dans l’histoire de la Super Ligue du Nord.
PLACE TD : À la pause de la mi-temps du match de dimanche, la ligue a annoncé que la Finale de la Super Ligue du Nord de cette année aura lieu au Stade de la Place TD à Ottawa le 14 novembre 2026 à 15 h HE.
