Ottawa, ON (September 6, 2026) – Despite rallying back from an early deficit, Ottawa Rapid FC conceded late to fall 3-2 to Montreal Roses FC on Sunday afternoon at TD Place Stadium. Johanne Fridlund and Keera Melenhorst scored for Ottawa in the loss. Rapid FC (10-3-6) remain in second in the Northern Super League table with 33 points.
Montreal opened Sunday’s match with an early goal from Elyse Bennett, then a second from Lisa Pechersky. Later in the first half, Ottawa responded off the foot of Johanne Fridlund. Melanie Forbes chased a ball down the right side and crossed it into the box, where Fridlund put the finish for her third of the year. Forbes was credited with her second assist of the season on the goal.
In the second half, momentum shifted in Ottawa’s favour. Keera Melenhorst found the tying goal for Ottawa in the 60th minute, taking a feed in the box from Florence Belzile and burying it for her sixth of the year. The goal marked Belzile’s third assist of the season. Ottawa continued to dominate in possession through the latter part of the second half, but a late goal from Montreal’s Noémi Paquin handed Ottawa its fourth-straight loss.
Head coach Katrine Pedersen, on the result: “When we concede, we concede early and we concede late. That doesn’t give us the best opportunity to win games. But all in all, I was happy with the response after being down 2-0 after 17 minutes. How we responded, how we made changes, how our players adapted to that was very positive. We’re still disappointed with the result, but a lot of things to bring forward.”
Next weekend, Rapid FC travel west to face Vancouver Rise FC at Swangard Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday, September 13th at 4:00 p.m. ET.

Ottawa (Ontario) 6 septembre 2026 – Malgré une remontée qui a permis d’effacer un déficit au pointage, le CF Rapide d’Ottawa a encaissé un but en fin de rencontre pour ainsi subir une défaite de 3-2 aux mains des Roses de Montréal FC, dimanche après-midi au Stade de la Place TD. Johanne Fridlund et Keera Melenhorst ont inscrit les buts d’Ottawa dans la défaite. Le CF Rapide (10-3-6) conserve la deuxième place au classement de la Super Ligue du Nord avec un total de 33 points.
Montréal a ouvert la marque tôt dans le match grâce à Elyse Bennett, puis a ajouté un deuxième filet qui a été inscrit par Lisa Pechersky. Plus tard en première mi-temps, Ottawa a répliqué grâce au tir de Johanne Fridlund. Melanie Forbes a foncé pour aller chercher un ballon sur le côté droit et a centré dans la zone de réparation, où Fridlund a complété le jeu pour enfiler son troisième de l’année. Forbes a enregistré sa deuxième passe décisive de la saison sur ce but.
En deuxième demie, ç’a été au tour d’Ottawa d’avoir l’avantage du jeu et Keera Melenhorst a inscrit le filet égalisateur pour Ottawa à la 60e minute, recevant une passe de Florence Belzile dans la zone de réparation pour aussitôt marquer son sixième de l’année. Belzile en était à sa troisième passe décisive de la saison. Ottawa a continué de dominer au chapitre de la possession du ballon en dernière portion de la deuxième mi-temps, mais un but tardif de Néomi Paquin au profit de Montréal a mené à la défaite d’Ottawa, une quatrième de suite.
L’entraîneure-chef Katrine Pedersen, sur le résultat du match : « Quand nous encaissons un but, nous le faisons en début et en fin de match. Ce qui ne nous donne pas les meilleures chances de l’emporter. Au bout du compte, j’étais contente de notre réaction après que les joueuses se soient retrouvées en déficit de 2-0 après 17 minutes de jeu. La façon dont nous avons réagi, la façon dont nous avons changé certaines choses, la façon dont les joueuses se sont adaptées à la situation, c’était très positif. Nous sommes quand même déçues du résultat, mais il y a plusieurs aspects à retenir pour la suite ».
Le weekend prochain, le CF Rapide se rendra dans l’Ouest canadien pour affronter le Rise FC de Vancouver au stade Swangard. Le match aura lieu dimanche le 13 septembre à 16 h 00 (HE).
