Keera Melenhorst scores her third of the year, Melanie Forbes her second as Ottawa creates distance atop the Northern Super League table
Laval, QC (June 25, 2026) – Goals from Keera Melenhorst and Melanie Forbes powered Rapid FC to a 2-1 win over Montreal Roses FC at Stade Boréale on Thursday night. With the win, Rapid FC (6-1-2) tighten their grip on first place in the Northern Super League table with 19 points. Ottawa now holds a four-point lead over Montréal, who sit second with 15 points.
Keera Melenhorst opened the scoring for Ottawa 12 minutes into the match. Following a corner kick, Melenhorst found the ball amid a scramble in the box and snuck it through Montréal’s defence for her third of the year. In the second half, Melanie Forbes doubled Ottawa’s lead, finishing a ball fed in by Min-A Lee. The goal marked Forbes’ second of the year, with Lee earning her first assist. Late in the game, Montréal striker Elyse Bennett converted on a penalty to put Montréal on the board.
“I feel very good with the victory, it’s important to be able to win games even when you have moments where you suffer,” said head coach Katrine Pedersen. “I think in the first half, we were playing a good brand of football, we were creating chances. Second half, we wanted to be even more in control. The opposite actually happened, but we were good enough in moments where we suffered as well. Someone just said it looked like a character win. Yeah, it feels good.”
Midfielder Keera Melenhorst, on the team’s performance: “I’m really happy to get another goal, to put us ahead there in the first half. I think we put together a full 90-minute performance. Everyone attacked and defended with everything they had and ultimately we came out with the win, so I’m super happy about that.”
Rapid FC return to the pitch the first weekend of July, hosting Calgary Wild FC at TD Place Stadium on Sunday, July 5 at 2 p.m. ET.
KEERA MELENHORST: Keera Melenhorst has three goals and three assists in nine games played this season. The 23-year-old Ottawa native signed with Rapid FC this past February.

Laval, QC (25 juin 2026) – Keera Melenhorst et Melanie Forbes ont trouvé le fond du filet pour mener le CF Rapide vers une victoire de 2-1 contre les Roses FC de Montréal, jeudi soir, au Stade Boréale. Ce gain permet au CF Rapide (6-1-2) de renforcer son emprise sur la première place au classement de la Super Ligue du Nord avec 19 points. Ottawa a maintenant une avance de quatre points sur Montréal, deuxième avec 15 points.
Keera Melenhorst a ouvert la marque au profit d’Ottawa après 12 minutes de jeu. À la suite d’un coup de pied de coin, Melenhorst a réussi à mettre le pied sur le ballon alors qu’il y avait une mêlée devant le filet et elle a enfilé l’aiguille au travers le mur défensif des Roses pour ainsi inscrire son troisième but de la saison. En deuxième mi-temps, Melanie Forbes a doublé l’avance d’Ottawa après avoir été alimentée par Min-A Lee. C’était là le deuxième filet de la campagne pour Forbes, tandis que Lee a enregistré sa première passe décisive. En fin de rencontre, l’attaquante des Roses Elyse Bennett a marqué sur penalty pour inscrire l’équipe locale au tableau.
« Je suis très satisfaite de cette victoire, c’est important de réussir à remporter des matchs quand tu connais des moments où tu souffres, a déclaré l’entraîneure-chef Katrine Pedersen. Je trouve qu’en première demie, nous avons joué du bon football, nous avons créé des occasions. En deuxième demie, nous voulions contrôler le jeu encore plus. C’est le contraire qui est arrivé, mais nous avons été suffisamment bonnes dans les moments où nous avons aussi souffert. Quelqu’un vient de dire que c’était un match que nous avons gagné parce que nous avons affiché du caractère. Oui, c’est une bonne sensation ».
La milieu de terrain Keera Melenhorst sur la performance de l’équipe : « Je suis très contente d’avoir marqué un autre but, qui nous a donné les devants en première demie. Je trouve que nous avons réussi à livrer une bonne performance pendant 90 minutes. Tout le monde a bien attaqué et bien défendu en donnant tout et, au bout du compte, nous avons pu aller chercher la victoire, alors je suis super contente du résultat ».
Le CF Rapide sera de retour sur le terrain au cours de la première fin de semaine de juillet, alors que l’équipe recevra le Wild FC de Calgary au Stade de la Place TD, le dimanche 5 juillet à 14 h HE.
