Florence Belzile scored her third of the year, Hannah Chown made her NSL debut

Toronto, ON (August 30, 2026) – Ottawa Rapid FC fell 2-1 to AFC Toronto on Sunday afternoon at BMO Field. Rapid FC (10-3-5) currently sit second in the Northern Super League table with 33 points.

After a scoreless first half, Toronto got on the board first with a free kick goal from Kaylee Hunter, then Sarah Stratigakis doubled the club’s lead. Shortly after, Florence Belzile took a pass in the box from Sonia Okobi-Oke and buried it for her third of the year. Okobi-Oke was credited with her first assist of the season on the goal. Despite a strong push, Ottawa could not complete the comeback, dropping a third-straight match.

Head coach Katrine Pedersen, on the result: “It was a tough game, we played against a very good opponent. I think what we wanted to do was to bounce back after two games that we felt we didn’t show the hunger to win. I think that was definitely there today. We were not good enough in crucial moments where they delivered and scored goals. … I liked our response, being down 2-0. We fought to come back, we came back with one, and we had momentum at the end as well, created a little bit. We fought to the very end and we lost today, but I’m overall satisfied with our response from the last two games. We are going in the right direction.”

Next weekend, Rapid FC will look to rebound at home as the club hosts Montreal Roses FC at TD Place Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday, September 6th at 12:00 p.m. ET.

FLORENCE BELZILE: Florence Belzile came off the bench and scored her third goal of the season on Sunday, earning her fifth goal contribution overall.

Florence Belzile enfile son troisième but de l’année et Hannah Chown fait ses débuts dans la SLN

Toronto (Ontario) 30 août 2026 – Le CF Rapide d’Ottawa s’est incliné 2-1 aux mains de l’AFC Toronto, dimanche après-midi au BMO Field. Le CF Rapide (10-3-5) occupe maintenant la deuxième place au classement de la Super Ligue du Nord avec 33 points.

À la suite d’une première mi-temps sans but, Toronto a inscrit le premier filet de la rencontre au moyen d’un coup franc tiré par Kaylee Hunter, puis Sarah Stratigakis a doublé l’avance du club torontois. Peu après, Florence Belzile a reçu la passe de Sonia Okobi-Oke et a trouvé le fond du filet pour ainsi enfiler son troisième but de la saison. Okobi-Oke a récolté sa première passe décisive de la campagne sur ce but. Même si les joueuses d’Ottawa ont appliqué beaucoup de pression par la suite, elles n’ont pas réussi à créer l’égalité, subissant ainsi un troisième revers d’affilée.

L’entraîneure-chef Katrine Pedersen, au sujet du résultat : « Ç’a été un match difficile, nous avons affronté une très bonne équipe. Nous voulions rebondir après deux matchs où nous n’avions pas été affamées. Cette faim était clairement présente aujourd’hui. Nous n’avons pas été assez bonnes dans les moments cruciaux, quand elles ont livré la marchandise et marqué des buts. J’ai aimé la façon dont nous avons réagi en déficit de 2-0. Nous avons bataillé pour revenir dans le coup, nous sommes revenues avec un but et ensuite nous avons eu un bon élan à la fin, nous avons créé quelques occasions. Nous avons lutté jusqu’à la toute fin et nous avons perdu aujourd’hui, mais dans l’ensemble je suis satisfaite de la façon dont nous avons réagi après nos deux matchs précédents. Nous allons dans la bonne direction ».

Le weekend prochain, le CF Rapide cherchera à rebondir à domicile alors que l’équipe recevra les Roses FC de Montréal au Stade Place TD. Le match aura lieu le dimanche 6 septembre à compter de 12 h 00 (HE).
