OTTAWA (Dec. 27, 2025) – Ottawa Rapid FC midfielder Emily Amano, who brings intelligence and pride to the heart of the pitch, has agreed to a new contract, keeping her in Ottawa through the 2026 season.

“She’s highly creative, confident, and strong on the ball,” said Rapid FC Technical Director Kristina Kiss. “We didn’t get to see what she was capable of last season due to injury. I’m thrilled we’ll have the chance to see her in full form this season and can’t wait to see what she brings to the pitch.”

A homegrown talent for Ottawa Rapid FC, Amano played eight matches after returning from injury on August 9, recording 149 minutes and two total shots during the Northern Super League’s inaugural 2025 campaign.

Amano joined the Rapid FC following professional campaigns with IF Grótta in Iceland, and Umeå IK in Sweden in 2023. She made 22 appearances and scored two goals with Umeå.

Before turning professional, Amano played five seasons at Colgate University, appearing in 70 matches (58 starts) and scoring eight goals, along with two assists over 4,318 minutes. She served as team captain and earned All-Patriot League honors as a senior in 2022.

A product of Ottawa’s soccer development system, Amano represented the Ontario Provincial Team for four years and was an inaugural member of the Canadian National Development Centre (formerly REX) in 2018. She also represented Ontario at the 2017 Canada Summer Games, helping the team reach the championship match and earning a spot on the tournament All-Star Team.
