Rapid FC Secures Home Win with a 3-1 Victory Over Calgary Wild FC

Melanie Forbes and Nicola Golen both net their first Northern Super League goals
D.B. Pridham pulls away in Golden Boot race with nine goals this season

Ottawa, ON (June 21, 2025) – Melanie Forbes celebrated her 26th birthday with her first career Northern Super League goal and an assist in Ottawa’s 3-1 victory on Saturday afternoon at TD Place Stadium over the visiting Calgary Wild FC. The club narrows the table now with 14 points and a record of 4-2-3.

D.B. Pridham struck first for the home team, with a patiently-timed shot redirected off the goal post. Pridham now leads the league with nine goals, three times greater than those following her record.

Late in the second half, Calgary capitalized on a punched-out ball from goalkeeper Mollie Eriksson to bring the Wild within one. Just four minutes later, Ottawa took their two-goal lead back with a notch from Nicola Golen, her first in the Northern Super League, on a redirection from Forbes.

“We met a team that was equal to us in the table and we knew it was going to be a hard game, but also a game that we were looking forward to. Calgary is always fun to play against because they're playing out of the back, they're brave, they normally make fun things and they have set pieces as well, so we have to be really, really sharp,” said head coach Katrine Pedersen. “I think we managed the first half very well, and scored some beautiful goals in the game. The second half got a little bit more messy… They changed a little bit and we adapted to it and we kept the momentum and got the win. So we are very happy.”

After the league’s international break, Ottawa Rapid FC return to York Lions Stadium in Toronto to face AFC Toronto on Thursday, July 10 at 7 p.m. ET.

MELANIE FORBES: The midfielder scored her first career NSL goal and had an assist off the bench on her 26th birthday.

SERIES: In the second of five meetings with Calgary Wild FC, the Rapid are 1-1-0.

Ottawa, ON (21 juin 2025) – Quelle façon de célébrer son 26e anniversaire pour Melanie Forbes, qui a marqué son tout premier but en carrière dans la Super Ligue du Nord et récoltée une passe décisive dans la victoire de 3-1 du CF Rapide Ottawa, samedi après-midi, face au CF Calgary Wild, au Stade de la Place TD. Grâce à ce gain, Ottawa grimpe au classement avec 14 points et une fiche de 4-2-3.

C’est D.B. Pridham qui a ouvert le score pour les locales avec un tir bien placé, redirigé par le poteau. Pridham mène désormais le classement des buteuses avec neuf buts, soit trois fois plus que ses plus proches rivales.

En fin de deuxième demie, Calgary a profité d’un ballon repoussé par la gardienne Mollie Eriksson pour réduire l’écart à un seul but. Mais à peine quatre minutes plus tard, Ottawa a repris son avance de deux buts grâce à un tir dévié de Nicola Golen, qui a inscrit son premier but dans la NSL, sur une belle passe de Forbes.

« On affrontait une équipe à notre hauteur au classement, et on savait que ce serait un match difficile, mais c’était aussi un match qu’on avait hâte de jouer, » a déclaré l'entraîneuse-chef Katrine Pedersen. « C’est toujours agréable d’affronter Calgary parce qu’elles construisent le jeu à partir de l’arrière, elles jouent avec courage, elles proposent souvent des séquences intéressantes et elles sont aussi dangereuses sur phases arrêtées. Donc il fallait être très, très concentrées. Je trouve qu’on a très bien géré la première demie et marqué de superbes buts. La deuxième a été un peu plus désorganisée… Elles ont ajusté leur jeu, on s’est adaptées, on a gardé le rythme et on est allées chercher la victoire. On est vraiment contentes. »

Après la pause internationale, le CF Rapide Ottawa sera de retour au jeu le jeudi 10 juillet à 19 h à Toronto, au Stade York Lions, pour y affronter l’AFC Toronto.
