Ottawa Rapid FC Fall 2-1 to the Halifax Tides FC in Halifax

Olivia Scott scores her first career Northern Super League goal

Halifax, N.S. (June 10, 2025) – Ottawa Rapid FC struck first but couldn’t hold off a second-half surge from the Halifax Tides, falling 2-1 in a tightly contested road match. Despite an early goal, the Rapid were undone by two set-piece finishes from the home side on a misty Tuesday evening at Wanderers Grounds in Halifax.

Olivia Scott opened the scoring in the 14th minute, heading home a corner kick through traffic to put the Rapid in front. Scott served as captain and the tally marks her Northern Super League first. Ottawa controlled much of the first half and held 55% possession over the course of the match, but couldn’t extend their advantage.

Halifax responded after the break, with Megumi Nakamura slotting in the equalizer in the 57th minute following a scramble in the box that ended goalkeeper Melissa Dagenais’ 148-minute shutout streak. The Tides pulled ahead in the 74th minute on a sensational volley from Icelandic international and captain Gunny Jonsdottir off a corner. The Rapid pressed late and nearly found the tying goal in stoppage time, but a final corner chance came up short.

Defender Olivia Scott: “We talked a lot about it being hard to win not at home. This is just a learning curve for us. We have to come out hard and keep momentum, especially with the lead. So that's a hard one, losing that lead.” 

On her first career NSL goal: “I actually got interviewed before the league even started when I signed. [I was asked] ‘what's something that would be really cool to happen to you in the league?’ And I said ‘I'd like to score a header on Erin McLeod’ and it happened today.”

Next, Ottawa Rapid FC are facing Montreal Roses FC at home in Ottawa on Saturday, June 14 at 2 p.m. ET.

Défaite de 2-1 du CF Rapide contre le FC Tides à Halifax

Halifax, N.-É. (10 juin 2025) – Le CF Rapide Ottawa a ouvert la marque, mais n’a pas su contenir une poussée en deuxième mi-temps des Tides d’Halifax, s’inclinant 2-1 dans un match serré à l’étranger. Malgré un but rapide, le Rapide a été puni par deux buts sur phases arrêtées de l’équipe locale, mardi soir sous la brume au Wanderers Grounds à Halifax.

Olivia Scott a marqué le premier but à la 14e minute, reprenant de la tête un corner dans la mêlée pour donner l’avance aux siennes. Capitaine pour la rencontre, Scott inscrit ainsi son tout premier but dans la Super Ligue du Nord. Ottawa a dominé une bonne partie de la première mi-temps et a conservé 55 % de possession pendant le match, sans toutefois réussir à creuser l’écart.

Halifax a répliqué au retour des vestiaires. Megumi Nakamura a égalisé à la 57e minute après une mêlée dans la surface, mettant fin à la séquence sans but de 148 minutes de la gardienne Melissa Dagenais. Les Tides ont pris les devants à la 74e minute grâce à une superbe volée de l’internationale islandaise et capitaine Gunny Jonsdottir, à la suite d’un autre corner. Le Rapide a poussé dans les dernières minutes et a failli créer l’égalité dans les arrêts de jeu, mais leur dernier corner n’a rien donné.

Déclaration d’Olivia Scott, défenseure :
« On a beaucoup parlé du fait que c’est difficile de gagner à l’extérieur. C’est une étape d’apprentissage pour nous. Il faut arriver fort et garder l’élan, surtout quand on mène. C’est dur de perdre une avance comme ça. »

À propos de son premier but en carrière dans la SLN :
« On m’avait interviewée avant même le début de la ligue, quand j’ai signé. On m’a demandé : “C’est quoi quelque chose que tu aimerais vraiment accomplir dans la ligue ?” Et j’ai dit : “J’aimerais marquer un but de la tête contre Erin McLeod.” Et c’est arrivé aujourd’hui. »
