Six-part documentary takes fans beyond the pitch to experience the people, challenges and defining moments of Ottawa Rapid FC's 2026 season
OTTAWA, October 29, 2026 – Ottawa Rapid FC is bringing supporters closer to the athletes and stories behind the club with the launch of Flight Path, a new six-part documentary series offering an inside look at the team's 2026 Northern Super League (NSL) season.
Premiering Monday, November 2, on Ottawa Rapid FC's YouTube channel, Flight Path takes viewers beyond matchday to experience the dedication, challenges and personal stories that shape life at a professional women's soccer club.
Filmed throughout the 2026 season, the series follows Rapid FC's athletes, coaches, and sporting staff as they navigate the demands of professional competition, from intense training and matchday pressure to the setbacks, celebrations, and relationships that define a team.
With Ottawa Rapid FC finishing second in the NSL regular season and preparing for its playoff campaign, the series offers a unique perspective on a team competing for a championship while continuing to build its identity in the early years of professional women's soccer in Canada.
"A season is so much more than a series of 90-minute matches.. Flight Path is about everything that happens beyond those 90 minutes. The hard work, the personalities, the challenges and the moments that bond a team together," said Shawna Newbery, Chief Marketing Officer of Ottawa Rapid FC. "We know Ottawa is more than a hockey town; it's a soccer town too. We want our supporters to feel connected to the athletes not just as players, but as people. This series gives them an opportunity to see how women's professional sports are different, and honestly, just better."
Produced in collaboration with Josh O'Connor, whose previous work includes the Ottawa REDBLACKS' Behind the R series, Flight Path features six approximately 15-minute episodes combining match and training footage with candid conversations and reflections from athletes and sporting staff.
Kate McKenna, NSL and TSN host, narrates the series and provides context and an independent perspective as the season unfolds.
Unlike a scripted production, Flight Path captures the realities of a season as they happen. Filming began in April and will continue through the conclusion of Ottawa's 2026 campaign, with later episodes incorporating post-season reflections from the athletes.
The series also offers an opportunity to inspire the next generation of athletes, showcasing not only the rewards of professional sport but also the determination, resilience and commitment required to compete at the highest level.
"Flight Path is a chance to show that there's so much more to professional soccer than what people see on match day," added Newbery. "We hope young athletes, girls and boys, watching can see themselves in our athletes, understand the work that goes into reaching this level and recognize the opportunities that exist for them in the sport in their own backyard."
The first episode of Flight Path premieres November 2, 2026, with a new episode released each month leading into the start of the 2027 NSL season.
