Ottawa Rapid FC Hold League-Leading Toronto to 1-1 Draw  

Min-A Lee scores her second goal of the Northern Super League season

Ottawa, ON (August 13, 2025) – Ottawa Rapid FC and AFC Toronto played to a hard-fought 1-1 draw Wednesday night at TD Place Stadium. It was Min-a Lee who opened the scoring for the home crowd, echoing her goal in the first match of the season series against AFC Toronto. 

Toronto struck first in the 21st minute when Kaylee Hunter notched her 10th goal of the season, putting her two goals back of DB Pridham’s league-leading total. In the following minute, Melanie Forbes’ strike was ruled offside, keeping the visitors ahead by one.

The Rapid responded just before halftime, as Forbes’ shot bounced wide off the post before Lee’s follow-up header found the back of the net in the 47th minute. 

In the second half, D.B. Pridham came close to her 13th goal of the season with a confident strike that clanged off the post, but neither team could find a winner. Ottawa applied sustained pressure at times, showcasing their attacking quality and resilience, while Toronto remained dangerous on the counter.

The draw leaves both sides sharing the spoils, with Ottawa maintaining strong offensive output and continuing to build momentum in the Northern Super League. The team’s late chances highlight the Rapid’s growing cohesion and fight, even when facing a competitive Toronto side.

"I’m proud of the team’s performance. We controlled much of the game, pressed high, won the ball back in key areas, and created more chances than our opponents,” said head coach Katrine Pedersen. “Of course, there’s some disappointment in not converting those opportunities, but overall it’s a strong rebound from our last outing, and there are plenty of positives to carry into the next match."

Goalkeeper Melissa Dagenais on the result: “It’s a frustrating result given all the chances we created and a couple of hits on the post, but it shows we can generate opportunities and compete at a high level. We just need to keep believing and finishing those moments."

Le CF Rapide fait match nul 1-1 contre les meneuses de la ligue, l’AFC Toronto
Min-A Lee inscrit son deuxième but de la saison dans la Super Ligue du Nord

Ottawa, ON (13 août 2025) – Le CF Rapide Ottawa et l’AFC Toronto se sont quittés sur un score de 1-1 mercredi soir au Stade de la Place TD, à l’issue d’un match intense. C’est Min-A Lee qui a fait vibrer les partisans locaux en première mi-temps, inscrivant son deuxième but de la saison, elle qui avait déjà marqué contre Toronto lors de l’ouverture de la saison.

Toronto a ouvert la marque à la 21e minute par l’intermédiaire de Kaylee Hunter, qui a inscrit son dixième but de la saison, à deux buts de D.B. Pridham, en tête du classement des buteuses. Dès la minute suivante, Ottawa pensait avoir répliqué grâce à Melanie Forbes, mais son but a été annulé pour hors-jeu.

Le CF Rapide a trouvé la faille juste avant la mi-temps : une frappe de Forbes a touché le poteau avant de revenir dans les pieds de Min-A Lee, qui a marqué de la tête à la 42e minute.

En deuxième mi-temps, D.B. Pridham a failli redonner l’avance à Ottawa, mais son tir a heurté le poteau. Malgré une pression constante des joueuses locales et plusieurs occasions créées, aucune des deux équipes n’est parvenue à faire la différence en fin de match. Toronto est restée dangereuse en contre-attaque, mais le CF Rapide a tenu bon.

Le match nul permet aux deux équipes de se partager les points, Ottawa conservant une forte puissance offensive et continuant à prendre de l'élan dans la Super Ligue du Nord. Les occasions tardives de l'équipe soulignent la cohésion et la combativité croissantes du Rapide, même face à une équipe torontoise très compétitive.

« Je suis fière de la performance de l’équipe. On a dominé dans plusieurs phases du jeu, pressé haut, récupéré le ballon dans des zones clés, et créé plus d’occasions qu’elles, a déclaré l’entraîneuse-chef Katrine Pedersen. Bien sûr, on aurait aimé concrétiser davantage, mais c’est un bon match après notre dernière sortie, et on a plein d’éléments positifs sur lesquels bâtir. »

La gardienne de but Mélissa Dagenais a ajouté : « C’est frustrant vu toutes les occasions qu’on a eues et les poteaux qu’on a touchés, mais ça montre qu’on est capable de créer des opportunités et de rivaliser avec les meilleures. Il faut juste continuer à y croire et concrétiser ces moments-là. »

Le CF Rapide d’Ottawa se déplacera à Montréal pour y affronter les Roses de Montréal le samedi 16 août au Stade Boréale, dès 14 h (HE).
